Abstract

Poisoning by the intake of colchicine is rare in our environment but has serious implications in the life of the patient so it must be recognized and treated promptly This is the case of poisoning of a 44-year-old man who ingested 40 mg of colchicine for suicidal purposes, who developed lactic acidosis, multi-organ failure and subsequent fatal outcome.
