We present the case of an 81-year-old woman with a history of arterial hypertension, heart failure and liver cirrhosis, with an intrathoracic tumour that turned out to be a submerged goitre according to imaging studies, and with symptoms due to decompensation of her history. During his hospitalisation, stridor was noted when she sat up. Due to her unfavourable evolution she was admitted to the ICU. The patient developed a respiratory tract infection that caused acute respiratory failure and septic shock leading to death.
